I
currently use Net News Wire as my RSS reader and why
not? It's now free and does the job really well,
especially when I am looking at my Mac updates feed.
RSS readers are great because they allow you to
quickly read through the headlines of stories and
click on the ones that interest YOU so I was a bit
surprised when I saw a new RSS reader that has a user
interface similar to a Newspaper. It's called
Times and in my test
it's not bad but at $30 I think I'll stick with
Net News Wire for now. Read

I
have two iMac's and signed up for Apple Care for both
of them at a cost of $159.00. After some problems
with Leopard and my iMac I have to say that for the
most part Apple Care is not worth the money. The same
can be said for a .Mac account which for a fee allows
you get a Mac eMail address, publish your website on
the Web and store back up files. However with more
and more inexpensive and free services appearing
unless Apple adds more value to .mac a lot of people
may forgo this service. Read

Primatelabs.ca published
Geekbench scores
for the iMacs that were released just last week.
As I saw the release of the new iMac's I was
wondering, should I go for another upgrade over my
24" 2.8 iMac? Well the results do not give me a
compelling reason right now and maybe I can
actually use my iMac for another year without
needing to upgrade ! Read

With so many third
party apps and utilities for OSX available there may
come a time when you notice that Mac is running
sluggish. The first step of course is to use disk
utility to repair your disk permissions but if that
doesn't work it maybe better to do an erase and
install and start from scratch. Yes it can be a lot
of work but you maybe surprised with improved
performance of you Mac. Here are some steps to follow
when you do your complete refresh.

RapidoStart is a cool utility

documents, or access folders. When there is not
enough space in the Apple Dock, you can use
RapidoStart to store an endless number of items!
It can be used in conjunction with the Apple Dock
or as its replacement. Oh and the best part is

I
like to record videos off the Web. There are some
great videos of old TV shows and other things that I
like to collect but the problem has always been that
it's sometime hard to download without going through
a log of apps. Well thanks to Video Box that problem
is solved. Just drag and drop the URL of the FLASH
you want to download and Video Box downloads the
video and saves it to a location specified by you.
It does cost $15.00 but this Leopard ready app
will provide you with the ability of downloading a
lot of FLASH videos. Read

One of the great
features of OSX is the menu bar. A very quick glance
at the top menu bar can give you a snapshot of your
system, the weather, the date and time among other
features. As much as I like apps for the menu bar I
don't want to spend money to add them because they
are "nice to have" and not a necessity. Here are some
of my favorites courtesy of surfbits...
