My primary stereo system is in my audio room
but I wanted an audiophile system that allowed me to
listen to my iPod in my bedroom. The problem was that
although there were a lot of choices if I wanted to
to have access to the songs and playlists on my iPod
I had to walk across the room to my iPod. That was
before I found
George by Chestnut Hill
Audio. Your iPod sits docked on top of this
great tabletop unit but you can take the front
panel of the unit with you to use as a remote
with an LCD screen and it even has it's own
charging stand.

I like to take my iPod to work so I can listen
to music and found a desktop unit that is nothing
short of spectacilar. Ideal for people who demand
high-end sound quality, the
SoundWorks i765 is an iPod
solution that also offers complete audio/video
entertainment, with a built-in DVD player, CD
player, radio, alarm clock and more. Working
with all iPod models, including new iPod
Classic, Nano and Touch, this versatile,
unbelievable sounding system is great any place
you want your music. There is price however for
quality and the price of $499.95 I am sure will
set a lot of people back, but hey this is a
premium unit.

I keep asking myself why Google stock is going
to Pluto but when I see what they have done with
iGoogle, and gMail I begin to understand that perhaps
Google understands more about the way people use
their Mac's than anyone else. There are some new
options for Google including iGoogle, which allows
you to design a portal page with a variety of
widgets, gMail is now becoming more mainstream and
for Mac users there is Mail Plane which allows you to
utilize all the features of gmail without having to
launch your browser.

As the market share of Mac's increases it's
likely that more and more people will develop trojans
or viruses targeted at Mac OSX. The question
therefore every Mac user has to ask is "what's it
worth to ensure my Mac is virus, trojan and tracking
cookie free?". The answer might be
Mac Scan which offers a great
product that can scan your hard drive in minutes
and costs only $24.99.

Microsoft, the evil empire to a lot of Mac
owners, has not released an update to their Office
suite for almost 4 years and with the Mac ads
attacking Vista and Microsoft I was beginning to
wonder if an update would ever be released but in a
little over a week the new Mac version of Office will
be released. While it is a good upgrade and one that
most Mac owners will want to get it is evolutionary
rather then revolutionary with some good new features
but a lot more that could eventually be added. See
Walt Mossberg's review here.

When it comes to image programs Photoshop has
always set the standard. The problem with Photoshop,
however, is that its advanced features require a lot
of learning time to master. I was looking for a
simple image program that could take my photos and
turn them into paintings. That's when I found
Corel Painters Essentials 4
and wow is this a great program for touching up
photos and turning them into paintings that
could hang on anyones house with pride.

When it comes to Internet browsers Mac users
have a lot of options and choices. The latest release
is
iCab 4.0 which is a nice
browser but I just am not sure that I would pay
$25 for another browser when there are so many
good one available for free.

I don't know about your but it can be a real
pain in the ass to have to go to the applications
folder to open a program even with the dock and
stacks. That's why I use Overflow an inexpensive
program ($14.95) that allows you to customize the
tabs and put all the applications you want out of the
dock but yet within easy reach.

If your an AIM or MSN Messenger user there is a
program that will connect you to any IM service and
it's completely free.
Adium is one of the best IM
clients out there for the Mac and has a lot of
features and skins that you can use to enhance
your instant messaging. I like it because it
integrates well with my Mac and allows me to
sign onto multiple accounts at the same time.

As soon as you get a new Mac you're going to
want to be able to get some decent speakers to watch
movies or listen to your iTunes. I have been through
at least 4 different brands of speakers but have not
found anything that sounds as good as the
Sound Sticks. Not only do
these speakers have great sound reproduction but
they look really cool sitting next to a new
shiny aluminum iMac.

Quickscale is designed to let
you scale a large of of pictures to a desired
size and format. Now, why would you want to do
that? For example, if you wish to share your
holiday photo's with family and friends, you can
either send them by e-mail or put them somewhere
on a website. The problem is that these pictures
are usually far to large, have immense
resolutions, and take far to long to send.

If you're like me you want to try out new Mac
programs all the time. The problem is that simply
dragging the file folder to the trash may not
completely delete the program which is why there is
App Zapper. Just drag and drop the program you don't
want into the window and App Zapper will search your
hard drive for any remaining folders and delete them
as well. This is must have application for anyone who
owns a Mac.

Now that you have a program to paint your
CD's/DVD's you need a program to print the CD card so
you know what songs or images are on the media. I
have tried a lot of different programs and found this

CD Jacquet and is a great
little program for printing jewel case labels.

If you like to burn CD's or DVD's like me you
have probably found that it can be a lot of work.
First you have to select the songs, burn the CD then
compose and print the label for the CD and the card
for the jewel case. I had a stick on label get stuck
in my cars CD player once and that was enough for me
so my CD stomper went into the trash. Enter the
Dymo Discpainter. I first saw
the ad in Wired Magazine and one i Went to their
website and saw how easy it was to use I bought
one and I am glad I did.

of formats including TIFF, JPG, and PNG. I use
this program so much that I have it permanently
