What have you done for me lately? That is what
Wall Street seems to want to know when evaluating
stocks. When Apple recently announced the best
quarter ever the stock tanked because the street felt
that since this was the best quarter that Apple in no
way could top expectations in a down economy. Well
anyone that bets against Apple doesn't know Mr Jobs
very well at all.

The reviews for the Mac Book Air are starting
to hit the street and although most of them are
positive they also point out the MBA's serious
shortcomings that will limit sales and make it a
niche item. To many Apple and Mac people, however,
feel that Apple can do no wrong and that's too bad
because in the business world nothing lasts forever
and that includes Apple's position as a premiere
innovator. Here are some products that I would like
to see from Apple in the coming year(s).

Apple stock took a beating yesterday despite the best
quarter in the companies history. Why? Well if you
read between the lines there are not going to be any
major new products this year from Apple and there
will be no new software for OSX. Leopard is it for
2008 although there might be updated patches with
minor improvements. This is what happens when you
become more of a media company then a computer
company and should send up a warning flag to all Mac
users.

In the new economy consumers have more power then
ever. There is no such thing as brand loyalty
anymore..either you continue to take it up a level or
we'll move to your competitors products and leave you
in the dust. There are some things which disturb me
about Apple's direction including Steve Jobs who now
is such a "rock star" that he has little regard for
the the people who have made Apple great.

Well the review for the Mac Book Air are coming
in and they should raise a lot of eyebrows. It seems
that not only are the new Mac Book Air's slow but
they only have three jacks and no ethernet jack.
That's right ! You need to purchase a separate
adopter to connect to the Internet. So you get a
great looking Mac laptop but with a slow processor
and limited hard drive and a list of extras that
could cost you a lot of money. So who is going to
purchase the new Mac Book Air?

Well, this is what happens when you deliver new
exciting products at the end of the year. MacWorld
was a major letdown and huge disappointment for a lot
of people including this writer. The new MacBook airs
are nice but are way overpriced for what they offer
and I believe that after the early adopters get
theirs they are going to sit on Apple store shelves.
I don't care about Apple TV or wireless backup so
overall for me Macworld was a non-event.

Macworld is less then a week away and the
rumors are flying. However if you cut through the
hype and the crap it's going to be a home-hum
nonevent for most Mac users. I expect Apple to launch
a new ultra-thin notebook, a 16GB iPhone, upgraded
processors for iMac's and Macpro's, and announce a
deal to "rent" movies through iTunes and that's it. I
already have an iPhone so a 16Gb model is not in my
plans and I use a desktop rather than a laptop so the
biggest news for me is going to be the introduction
of Office 2008.

Apple for years has offered access to their
beta code through the Apple Developer Connection but
unless you really plan on developing code this is
just not worth the money. I was an Apple Developer
and downloaded several versions of the Leopard beta
but was very disappointed with their ADC tech help
and access to Leopard when it was finally released.

Welcome to Apple Mac Stuff.com ! I have been an Apple
enthusiast for the last 5 years and I am writing this
BLOG with a program called Rapid Weaver which is the
best program for getting on the Web quickly with a
profession looking site. The goal of this website is
simple; I want to share some of the best programs,
hardware and Internet sites for the Mac that I have
found over my last five years. I am always
downloading new programs and trying them out. Some
are very good and some have more bugs than a garbage
dump.
